A plain-language look at how childcare funding works in BC, and how our rates are structured.
Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative
A BC provincial program that reduces the fees parents pay for licensed child care. Funding is provided directly to participating providers, who pass the savings on to families as a fee reduction — you don't apply separately, it's simply reflected in your monthly rate. We're enrolled in CCFRI, as the large majority of licensed centers in BC are, so there's nothing you need to do to receive it.
Child Care Operating Funding
A BC provincial program that helps licensed child care facilities cover operating costs, including a Wage Enhancement component that supports fair compensation for early childhood educators. We're enrolled in CCOF, as the large majority of licensed centers in BC are — this one doesn't require anything from parents either.
Affordable Child Care Benefit
A BC provincial program that helps reduce the cost of child care for eligible families with children under 12. Generally speaking, families that earn up to $111,000/year may qualify for funding — but the exact amount is based on your family's income and circumstances, and only the government can calculate it.

CCFRI reduction is flat and applies to every family — it isn't based on income.
The sibling discount applies to your combined fee after CCFRI and doesn't apply to optional add-ons.
If your family qualifies for the Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB), you may receive additional assistance toward your remaining childcare costs.
ACCB eligibility and funding depend on your family's income and circumstances. Comfort First Early Learning cannot determine your ACCB amount.
